150 Years Levi's 501® Original

The month of May marks a huge milestone for Levi Strauss & Co. It's the celebration of another year of its first blue jeans - the straight-fit, 5-pocket, button fly - the iconic 501® Original. This year is even more noteworthy for completing its sesquicentennial anniversary and, therefore, the brand has launched an annual campaign to celebrate, throughout the year, its iconic jeans.
'The Greatest story ever worn'
The annual campaign celebrates the past of 501 Jeans and its milestone in people and historic moments over the 150 years of existence. The aim of this campaign is to celebrate the historic culture of original jeans and inspire the new generation to write the next chapters.
Capsule Collection 501® Banner Print
Inspired by the first Levi's advertising banners, Designer Holly Hapka creates the new patterns for the 501® Banner Print capsule collection. It combines the authentic colors, fonts and graphics of vintage banners from the Levi's archives, printed on denim for a trip down memory lane.

Selvedge 501® Original

The Selvedge collection is also a 501® Original capsule collection focused on the “self-edge” of denim. It's a strip of white fabric, which Levi's ran along the inside hem of the jeans with the phrase “150 YEARS OF 501® | LEVI STRAUSS & CO.” , which means that the jeans were made on a traditional narrow-width shuttle loom.

The Patchwork collection also draws inspiration from the Levi's archives to cut some of the iconic pieces over the years to finish off the 501® Original.
